Yup. It does foam up quite a bit. There are a couple ways to see where the liquid is sitting so you get the 75% fill.. the easiest is on a hot day it might condensate and show you as you fill it with cold liquid. And second is simply a hammer to tap. Neither is an exact science

Nope. The water separator is preventive maintenance. I’ve actually just finished mowing with the ‘recovered’ gas that was contaminated in the kicker tank. I ended up with about 3 out of the 4 or 5 gallons in it after letting it separate and pumping it off

Well yeah oil/ petroleum floats. But if the separator fills up, drain it. Re prime it and keep going… weird thing about oil and water is it doesn’t mix but it can be held together in suspension if it’s shaken or mixed. Hence water seperator
