Thanks. I was hoping that a bearing driver would work.
Regarding the seals, my outdrive is 93/94 with 2 seals. It just appears that a single seal that has the lip with a spring on both sides would/should theoretically work, but I would like to confirm that.
Good day,
I am in the process of resealing an Alpha One Gen 2 outdrive. The current drive has 2 separate oil seals around the driveshaft. The seal kit in my possession has a single, thicker seal with the lip (spring) on both sides. I am OK to use the single seal instead of 2 separate seals? It...
Hi there, hoping someone could guide me in troubleshooting the issue with '93 4.3 LX Alpha 1 Gen 2
The boat has been running fine all season. When I took it out on the weekend the boat shifted into gear (forward and reverse) without any problems. However, while in forward gear, the throttle was...
Hello,
Sorry, that was admittedly just click bait :blue:. But what I don't understand is why there is so much water in the fuel.
I have finished winterizing my boat. The attached pic is the contents of my water/fuel separator filter, dumped into a pasta sauce jar. The boat has been running...

Hello,
I was hoping that you guys could help me troubleshoot the problem.
It seems that my engine bogs down at WOT when attempting to get on plane for the first ride of the day. The engine does not stall, but drastically drops the RMP for about 2 seconds...
Hello,
Could you guys please help me figure out the replacement of anodes on my outdrive.
I have ordered a Quicksilver anode kit that includes the trim cylinder anodes and a prop shaft anode (seal carrier anode?). At a closer look at my outdrive, it is missing both and I don't understand if...
I have included a picture from taken from a distance. The crack is well below the water line. I don't know if this would make any sense, but I would like to figure out a way to inject water under high pressure into the hole inside the engine compartment that the water is flowing through (with...
Hello, I am looking for help in figuring out the source of a leak on my '93 fibreglass bowrider.
As I launched today I noticed that there is a small stream that is coming from a small hole (drain hole maybe?) that is located on the port side of my engine compartment. This hole is into the...
Hello,
I have just replaced my water pump housing and impeller with an OEM kit (Alpha 1 Gen 2) for my very first time. I was pretty confident that I followed the instructions very well. The only thing that I have done slightly differently is use liquid gasket sealer on the gaskets of the...
Hello again,
I wanted to clarify that bellows adhesive is NOT required for the exhaust bellows even though the Merc manual states to use it. I don't believe that mine were glued down when I removed them.
Also, the manual states to apply the adhesive and wait 10 minutes prior to joining parts...
Good morning,
I have performed a pressure test with a home-made tester after changing the water pump on my alpha one gen 2.
Pressure dropped from 15psi to 12.5 psi in a 4 hour time-frame.
I cannot hear any air escaping from the outside of the gear case. My home made tool connects to the case...
Hello,
I am replacing my gimbal bearing with a permaseal bearing that was included in the transom kit. Since it does not have a grease channel I wanted to make sure that I am installing it correctly.
I believe that the correct way is with the punch hole out and at 10 o'clock.
Could you please...
While attempting to remove the oil carrier seal underneath the water pump I have tore one of the holes open with a screwdriver. I was only able to move the seal up maybe 1mm if that... Now the screwdriver just slips out.
Can I drill another hole for leverage? Or is there a better way of doing...
Hello again,
I have finally decided to service my Alpha one Gen II water pump after 3 years of owner ship of my 1993 boat (I know, I am slapping myself on the wrist right now).
The oil looks ok, there were just a few specks of something on the lower screw magnet but I don't think it was...
