Have had issues with my motor not firing on all four. brought it to a dealer who replaced plugs wires coils, no fix, tested timer base and said that was bad, still no fix, i couldnt afford for them to keep guessing so i have it back. There's not alot left, was told the stator tested ok and the battery is always charged. I was reading about recitifier testing on here and tried testing with multi meter on setting that looks like a sideways triangle with a vertical line thru it and has the audible sound. I disconnected the yellow/yellow & red wire from the power strip and test each wire with red lead with black lead grounded to base and then tried in reverse order and could not get a reading either way. was wondering if i was doing the test correctly? Thanks for the help

I dont know what im doing with this multi-meter but i tested the recitfier on the ohms setting and am getting readings in both directions which i think im not suppose to be getting. Is that right?

The rectifier is part of the charging system. It is separate from the ignition side of the engine. Was the tech able to get a voltage reading out of the stator when it was tested? Should be 150 volts or better.

i did a resistance test to the charge coil and got 0.545 ohms on both sides. He didnt do the voltage test im sure, is this where i need a peak reading voltmeter, all i have is a multi meter

I prefer the peak-reading voltmeter test personally. You might be able to rent one or get an adapter for yours.
