I have a 94 Mercruiser 3.0 out of the boat and on a engine stand. I CAN NOT get the harmonic balancer to budge. I have read several of the older threads looking for some advice on how to get it to free up and I have not found a solution. Has anyone ran into one that will not free up? Any and all advice will be much appreciated.

I did not mean to type 3.0r in the subject. It is a 94 Mercruiser 3.0 I guess I fat fingered it and added the "r".

When I replaced mine, I rented the Harmonic Balancer removal/install tool from the auto parts store. It's a combination gear puller/pusher kit specifically for the job. They are a very tight fit to re-install, and you definitely DON'T want to bash a new (or old one) back on. Rent or buy the tool.

And be shure to put a little sealer on the inside of the hub when re-installing.The motoroil will leak out the keyway if ya don't.

Thanks guys! I did not metion that I had been using a puller but it would not budge. I ended up striping the threads on the puller (cheap). I soaked it with penetrating oil and used my buddys Snap On puller and it came right off. I dont know if it was the two days worth of soaking it witn penetrating oil or the Snap On puller but i got it off without damaging it.
