Engine cuts out after sharp turn or a lot of waves

Check the fuel pick up tube in the fuel tank. I had the same problem and found out that the screen would get clogged when I hit some wakes or turned the boat sharply. An old boat has junk in the botton of the fuel tank. Start from the begining of the fuel to the engine first before you spend a lot of money.

Changed the filter, the boat is still working well. Must have just been a combo of both filters being clogged. Thanks everyone. I can't diagnose the water leak, there is nothing visible leaking & the water must be running from somewhere else.. Dropped off at mechanic today..

I just did a carburetor rebuild on a Mercarb and instructions point out that if the spring loaded needle is used on the carb you may experience hesitation or stalling on sharp turns. I don't have anything else to add technically, just wanted to point out this known issue in case it helps.

Check your power steering cooler, and it's hoses for a possible leak there (under the engine), just forward of where the main water cooling line comes in.

Mechanic said it's not leaking while running on the muffs... Just had bellows done at a different mechanic.. i guess i'll try and take it back there before paying this one to remove the drive ect. I'm trying it out in the water now to see if i can get a video or picture of where it's leaking.

Ok.. so it's pretty impossible to get a picture of the leak. It's at the very bottom of the housing. I thought i was crazy for a minute.. the water wasn't leaking when i first turned the boat on. After about 2 mins water squirted, then started it's normal trickle leak. It's running out of the black housing at the very bottom, where 2 hoses go in. Looks like it will be impossible to fix or get a better look without the drive removed and viewed from the outside.

I don't understand the 2 bottom hoses your mentioning. There is only one hose which comes in from the outdrive and that goes to the power steering cooler, then to the thermostat housing. Are you talking about the exhaust Y-pipe?

The water leak was a connector between hoses that was cracked. The drive had to be pulled to replace. I'll close this as the main issue for the post was resolved... clogged fuel filters. Thanks all.
