Re: have to start when in gear
Dustin.....did this problem crop up when you put in the wrong lube?<br /><br />Try disconnecting the green wire going to the lower unit. Pull the hood and look for two wires, one blue and one green which will be going down to the gear case. Pull back the rubber cover and disconnect the knife connector on the green wire. If the engine still starts in gear, you have lower unit problems. If not, then it's possible the shift switch is at fault.
