I just snapped a piece of the starter housing trying to tighten my flywheel nut. I should of put the screwdriver on the gear spindle. Instead I used a piece of the housing that was sticking up behind the gear. I doesnt look like it does anything. Will everything still work? Can the white metal be welded or sould it be replaced. What should I do? Please assist. Thanks

Can the broken part be removed? If so then I'd take it along somewhere to see if they can weld it, and make up a simple jig to ensure correct alignment if this is important.
Alternatively it may be possible to epoxy the two parts using a short length of studding to reinforce the joint. Drill into each half a suitably sized hole so the studding will be a tight fit, and epoxy it into place. As suggested in the previous post let it cure for a full 24 hours, and don't be tempted to use a "fast" epoxy, they are usually not a strong as the 24 hour ones.
If you can post a photo of the broken part it would be much easier to advise?
