Will a 1988 head for my 1995 70hp?

I have a 1995 Johnson that I need a head for. I have found a head for an 88 which appears to look the same. Just wanted to ask you guys before I bought it. Are the heads the same? Thanks.

Just check what years use the same head gasket.

Yes as thetyare 3.187 bore the 88 and under are 3.00 bore

Head gasket is the same down to the 86 model.------First year of the bigger bore.------------Heads off earlier motors may fit but have different thermostat arrangement.-------Why the question ????

The question is because I don't know and don't want to waste money on a head that won't work. I know after a certain year in the early 90s the thermostats were raised in top of the head, do I need one of those or are you sayin anything 86+ will work?

The heads that will fit your model are:1986-03 70 hp as its big bore as the 1986-88 60hp is a small bore Also the 1989-03 60 hp will fit.
